To see & hear Dolmetsch Recorder Method pieces, Music Theory Online examples or e-Music scores, you will need to install Scorch from Sibelius Software. It is free, incorporates no spyware, takes less than a megabyte of disk space and you need only install it once. Make sure you follow the instructions on the Sibelius Scorch page particularly the need, if you do not use Internet Explorer, to download the installer.
System requirements for Scorch Windows: Internet Explorer 4 or higher, Netscape 4 or higher, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Windows 95/98/2000/NT4/Me/XP. Mac OS 9: Mac OS 9.1 or higher, Opera 5 or higher web browser. We recommend Classic Mac OS users to increase their browser's memory allocation to at least 16Mb. This should be increased further when viewing large scores. Mac OS X: Mac OS 10.1.5 or higher, Internet Explorer 5.1, Firefox, Netscape 6 or higher, Mozilla, Opera 5 or higher, OmniWeb 4.1 or higher, Safari. Important information for Mac OS 9 users Scorch for Mac is now 'carbonized', which means that it runs on Mac OS 9.1-9.2 (now known as 'Classic Mac OS') and Mac OS X. On Classic Mac OS, Scorch requires a 'carbonized' browser, so this new version does not currently work on Internet Explorer or Netscape, as these browsers have not yet been released as 'carbonized' applications. Scorch on Classic Mac OS therefore requires that you use the Opera web browser, and have the latest version of the CarbonLib system extension installed.
